Mary Ann Messer, left, was the winner of the Mt. Pleasant News? ?Bear?y Merry Christmas drawing recently at Hy-Vee in Mt. Pleasant. She was presented her prizes by Brandi Harris, right, general manager of The News. Bears were hidden at participating businesses during the holiday season and those who found bears had their name entered into the grand-prize drawing. Messer won gift cards from Brown?s Shoe Fit of Mt. Pleasant, and Standard of Beaverdale in Burlington; a blanket from Wiley?s Home Furnishings, Mt. Pleasant; crockpot from Hy-Vee, Mt. Pleasant; and a wireless speaker from Sound Advice, Mt. Pleasant. Each of the five participating businesses hid 33 bears throughout their store.
