The Fairfield Beautification Commission is hoping residents and businesses will invest in the downtown beautification project so the area?s charm can continue to affect the city?s perception as a whole.
?The Fairfield square is alive in color with the completion of the downtown streetscape, as well as the restored banners, new trash containers, the ?chairs, A Front Row Seat!? outdoor exhibit and the hanging baskets, which have been beautifying the Fairfield square for over a month now,? said Nancy Morrissey, a member of the beautification commission.
The hanging baskets are paid for entirely through donations. According to Morrissey, the cost to refurbish the metal baskets, the basket liners, the flowers and labor, the cost of each basket is almost $50.
?We hope that you will find it in your heart and pockets to support this beautification program this year,? said Morrissey. ?Your donation will be greatly appreciated.
Contributions, made payable to the Fairfield Area Chamber of Commerce, can be mailed to Morrissey at Fairfield Square Flower Baskets, Fairfield Area Chamber of Commerce, P.O. Box 945, Fairfield 52556.
Morrissey said the Beautification Commission works continually to bring the many elements together cohesively to make Fairfield a pleasing place to work, live and visit.
?We strive to tie everything together to create a unified color palette,? she said.
