The city of Fairfield was honored Oct. 28 with a ?Best Practices Award? and $1,000 from the Iowa Municipalities Workers? Compensation Association. The city of Fairfield was honored Oct. 28 with a ?Best Practices Award? and $1,000 from the Iowa Municipalities Workers? Compensation Association. City clerk Joy Messer, center, accepted the award on behalf of the city from IMWCA president Bob Shepherd, left, and Ed Morrison, the organization?s loss control representative. Messer said the city formed a safety committee a few years ago which meets once a month. The committee has ordered high visibility shirts for city employees who work on the street. Messer said the city has come a long way during the past five years in terms of safety.
