Bill Riley Talent Search comes to fair

MT. PLEASANT — On a warm July night and the Henry County fair in full gear, the annual Bill Riley Talent Search came to the Henry County Fair.
This year’s line up of 15 acts, with six seniors (13-21) and nine sprouts (2-12), was full of flash and dance with a few vocal solos in between.
Sprouts:
- Kalley Hudson, 10, of Wayland performing a contemporary dance solo to “Soldier.”
- Kara Hoover, 9, of Mt. Pleasant performing a musical theater dance solo to “Friend Like Me.”
- Aria Lane, 9, of Mt. Pleasant performing a dance solo to “Sound of Silence.“
- Bella Tedrow, 11, of Salem performing a dance solo to “Rockstar.”
- Teagan Gilchrist, 12, of Fairfield performing an dance solo to “Don’t Rain on My Parade.”
- Chelsea Patton, 11, of West Point performed a dance solo to “Power.”
- Gracie Szewczyk, 12, of Mt. Pleasant and Kaia Woodsmall, 12, of Mt. Pleasant performing a tap duet to “Little Bitty Pretty One.”
- Addyson Newton, 11, of Mt. Pleasant performing a musical theater dance solo to “Darrell is a Boy.”
- A Musical Theater Trio of Mt. Pleasant consisting of Allison Cargill, 8; Kimzington Keaster, 6; and Emerson Dodd, 8, performing “Play With Us.”
Seniors:
- Chayse Gilchrist, 16, of Fairfield performing a contemporary dance to “Devil, Devil.”
- Edith Diers, 15, of Fairfield performing a vocal solo signing “Tin Man.”
- Ruby Orr, 13, of West Burlington performed a vocal solo to Hallelujah.
- Makayla Lily-Sherwood, 20, of Burlington performing a dance solo to “Ashes.”
- Mckenzie Lafgren, 19, of Muscatine performing the vocal solo “Pulled” from the Adams Family Musical.
- Allyson Sperry, 19, of Danville performing a jazz solo to “Seven Nations”
Results Seniors:
- First Place: McKenzie Lafgren, 19, of Muscatine.
- Second Place: Ruby Orr, 13, of West Burlington.
- Third Place: Chayse Gilchrist, 16, of Fairfield.
