Henry County?s Board of Supervisors handled business property tax credits Thursday morning.
County Assessor Gary Dustman presented fiscal 2017 property tax credits requests from about 20 businesses. Dustman said that the deadline for applying for business property tax credits had been moved from March 15 to July 1.
Commercial property owners do not have to annually reapply for the tax credit. Re-application is needed only if the business property is sold.
Dustman said supervisors have little choice in their action on the applications. ?There really isn?t a reason to disapprove them.?
Supervisor Vice Chairman Marc Lindeen reported on the monthly meeting of the Southeast Iowa Link, which was Wednesday. Lindeen said the most significant news from the meeting was a tidbit from the organization?s advisory board.
The advisory board related that one of the three managed care organizations involved in the Medicaid program in Iowa said they will not pay for crisis out-patient counseling sessions that exceed 60 minutes in length.
A report on Wednesday?s board of directors meeting of the Regional Utility Service Systems (RUSS) was given by Supervisor Greg Moeller. A report from the meeting appears elsewhere in today?s News.
Supervisors meet again in regular session Tuesday, Oct. 18, at 9 a.m., in the Henry County Courthouse.
