The Henry County Board of Supervisors received a request Tuesday morning from the Veterans Affairs Commission to expand the hours of the County Veteran Service officer.
Roger Pittsenbarger currently serves in the position.
Pittsenbarger is presently being paid 20 hours a week.
What's being labeled as an increase in volume and workload, the Veteran Affairs Commission is asking the board to approve an increase in Pittsenbarger's position to 40 hours a week beginning Dec. 1.
According to the letter, Pittsenbarger has already been working over 20 hours a week but hasn't been paid for the additional time.
The commission says that there has been a considerable increase in the number of veterans reaching out for assistance.
The board will assign the request to an agenda in the near future.
