Henry County supervisors, during their meeting Thursday, approved the transfer of $1,212,915 from the rural basic service fund to the secondary road fund.
The transfer is routine business at the end of the fiscal year, County Auditor Shelly Barber said.
?It is based on a formula, and it is the only (property) tax money they get (during the fiscal year),? Barber said.
She said the secondary road fund does not have a deficit balance. The transfer is made at the end of the fiscal year because that is when all the property tax money has been collected.
Since the transfer comes from the rural basic service fund, it is tax money collected from only rural residents of the county.
Other revenue sources for the secondary road account are the local option sales tax, road use tax fund and the penny gasoline tax.
The transfer resolution was the only item of business for the supervisors Thursday.
Supervisors meet again in regular session Thursday, July 6, at 9 a.m., in the courthouse. The courthouse will be closed Tuesday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day.
