WASHINGTON ? The Washington County Com-munications Center log on Sept. 4 reported that one person has died as the result of a pre-dawn fire Thursday morning at 2585 275th Street in rural Washington.
Washington firefighters were called at about 5:30 a.m. to reports of a cabin fully engulfed in flames. The Ainsworth Fire Department was requested at about 6 a.m. for mutual aid.
No details were given about the identity of the subject or how the body was located. Washington County Sheriff Jerry Dunbar confirmed that a body was located in the remains of the building, which had been almost totally destroyed by the fire. The name of the victim hasn?t been released pending notification of the next of kin.
?At this point we are assisting the state fire marshal?s office,? Dunbar said. ?They will be the lead agency on this.?
Dunbar also said the body would be autopsied as part of the investigation. He said foul play hasn?t been ruled out in the death yet. He also said that a suspected cause of the fire hasn?t been determined yet.
