The Wapello Rural Water Association announced today the boil advisory has been lifted for Maharishi Vedic City, Salina and rural areas near Fairfield.
The boil advisory applied only to customers of the Wapello Rural Water Association.
A water main break occurred on 170th Street and Juniper Avenue Thursday. Due to a loss of water pressure while the main was broken, bacteria could have contaminated the water. Officials from the Wapello Rural Water Association collected samples from places around the area Friday.
Dan Westegard of the Wapello Rural Water Association said all water samples have passed the tests, indicating bacteria is not present in the water lines and the chlorine level is acceptable.
