Bonnie Baker, 84, died March 29, 2014, at the Benton House of Lees Summit, Mo.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, April 5, at Elliott Chapel, New London. the Rev. Jerry Rigdon will officiate. Burial will be in Jaggar Cemetery, rural Danville. Bonnie Baker, 84, died March 29, 2014, at the Benton House of Lees Summit, Mo.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, April 5, at Elliott Chapel, New London. the Rev. Jerry Rigdon will officiate. Burial will be in Jaggar Cemetery, rural Danville. She was born Oct. 27, 1929, in Abingdon, Va., to James Vance and Bonnie (Keller) Lyon.
She attended Lees-McRae College in North Carolina for two years studying Religious Education. She married Eugene Baker on Oct. 8, 1955. He preceded her in death. She and her husband moved to Danville in 1965. She worked as a secretary in the Purchasing Department at Mason and Hanger in Middletown for 24 years, retiring in 1991.
She was a long time member of the Danville United Methodist Church most recently transferring to the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church in Pleasant Hill, Mo. In Danville, she was a Member of the Order of Eastern Star, the Entre Nous Club as well as being active in many facets of the Danville Methodist Church.
She is survived by her children, Patricia Baranov of Burlington, Eugene Lawrence Baker Jr. also of Burlington and Joe Baker of Pleasant Hill, Mo.; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lula Lee Ball of Gallatin, Tenn. and Shirley Pritchard of Reading, Pa.
She was preceded in death by her husband; one sister, Isabelle Johnson; and two brothers, Byrd Lyon and James Vance Lyon Jr.
