WASHINGTON — A boil order was put in effect in Washington for South Third Avenue from Harrison to Tyler Street at 4:10 p.m. Tuesday. The requirement remained in effect as of 10:45 a.m. Wednesday.
City officials said the order — affecting about a dozen houses according to a GIS map of the area — was the result of a water main break.
Residents were directed to boil all water for at least 5 minutes before drinking, making ice cubes, washing food, brushing teeth, or any other activity involving the consumption of water.
The order’s duration is “until further notice,” as crews work to repair the water main.
