N/A
Aug. 28, 2019 8:00 pm
WASHINGTON – Replacement of the Iowa Highway 1 bridge over Camp Creek in Washington County, nearly 3 miles south of Kalona, will require closing the road to traffic, beginning at 7 a.m. Monday, Sept. 9, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation's Mt. Pleasant construction office.
Motorists will be directed to use an official off-site detour that will take them east through Ainsworth and Riverside if attempting to travel between Kalona and Washington, for instance. The 32.3-mile marked detour will follow Iowa Highway 22 east to Riverside, south on U.S Highway 218, and west on Iowa 92 through Ainsworth and Washington. It is anticipated the detour will be in place for approximately two weeks, weather permitting. Local traffic will have access to Iowa 1 except for the bridge crossing over Camp Creek (near Iowa Highway 1 at mile marker 65.10).
