Deputies responded to a single-vehicle rollover May 12 on the 2700 grid of Highway 218. It was determined that Tad Zwer, 24, of Brighton, was driving his 2002 Ford north on Highway 218 when he lost control, resulting in the rollover crash.
No injuries were reported and damage was estimated at over $1,500.
Upon further investigation, stolen property was recovered at the scene, which led to a search warrant being executed on the vehicle that resulted in more stolen property being found.
Zwer was charged with operating while intoxicated/impaired-first offense, a serious misdemeanor; two counts of fifth-degree theft-possession of stolen property, simple misdemeanors; and failure to maintain control, a simple misdemeanor.
The sheriff?s office was assisted in the investigation by the Mt. Pleasant Police Department, the Iowa City Police Department and the Washington County Sheriff?s Office.
