Brighton man wanted by three law enforcement agencies arrested New Year’s Day

BRIGHTON - A Brighton man wanted by three law enforcement agencies began the new year by being arrested for a slew of offenses.
According to the Washington County Communications Media Report, at approximately 3:14 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 1, a Washington County Sheriff's deputy reported being in the 200 block of East Main Street in Brighton with a subject wanted out of Washington County.
Jason Robert Potts, 37, of Brighton, was arrested for failure to appear for a non-jury trial and for driving while his license was denied, suspended, canceled or revoked, a $300 cash only bond. Additional charges filed included those for third of subsequent offense for possession of a controlled substance (marijuana) and possession of drug paraphernalia. The warrant was cleared from the system.
Upon further investigation, it was found Potts was wanted out of Fairfield theft in the second degree and four additional warrants: a controlled substance violation and possession of a controlled substance (marijuana) first offense, a $25,000 cash bond or surety; possession of drug paraphernalia, a $300 cash bond or surety; failure to appear for initial appearance on original charge of driving under suspension, a $300 cash only bond; and unauthorized use of a credit card, a $2,000 cash only bond. A detainer was placed with the Fairfield Police Department.
Potts was also wanted on an Iowa State Patrol warrant for driving while his license was denied, suspended, canceled or revoked, a $300 cash only bond. A detainer was placed with Des Moines state radio.
A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
