After missing out last year, the Brighton Mud Run returned Saturday afternoon.
The annual mud slinging event was canceled last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Henry Mineart, who oversees the operation of the mud run says its great to back.
“It feels great,” Mineart said. “We have a good crew that runs the mud run. The drivers to an amazing job, and they will help out. They’re supportive of everything we do.”
The turnout this year was less than normal. There were only seven trucks that participated in the mud run this year.
A regular mud run participant who sat out this year because his truck didn’t have a motor said that although the numbers are down it was great that the mud run happened.
“There’s not many trucks here today,” he said. “I think the important part is that we’re able to have the event in the first place.”
The mud run was created by the Brighton Chamber of Commerce in the mid 1980s.
Since then the run has evolved adding new classes, like snowmobiles, and different rules.
The name of the game is to get through the mud as quick or as far as possible. That is how the winners are determined.
This year, trophies were awarded to those who finished first and second.
All the proceeds from the event and concessions go to the Chamber of Commerce.
