Brighton’s Whoopee Days canceled for this year

BRIGHTON - A decision has been made to cancel the upcoming 110th Whoopee days in Brighton.

One of the organizers, Judy Augustine, said they decided to cancel the event because community members were divided, some wanting the event, some worried about the health implications.

'We just feel it's better if we don't do anything right now, and we wait and see what happens,” Augustine said.

Augustine continued to say it is a friendly and happy event and that can't be done with social distancing and masks.

It is better and safer to plan on doing it next year, Augustine said.

'We hate to do it, but life matters to us,” Augustine said.

Augustine said they also do an event for Halloween that is currently up in the air if it will happen.
