Permits for new houses, such as this one on Bell Drive, showed a significant increase ? both in the City of Mt. Pleasant and Henry County. Jack Swarm, Mt. Pleasant planning and zoning administrator, said he issued 18 permits for new houses in 2016, which is more than double the eight issued in 2015. Swarm also said that permits were granted for 15 mobile homes. Meanwhile, Joe Buffington, Henry County director of planning and zoning, said he approved 23 permits for new homes in the county. That compared with 15 in 2015.
