‘Burlington Street Bluegrass Band’ to play in Washington

WASHINGTON — The Washington Performing Arts Series proudly presents the Burlington Street Bluegrass Band Saturday, March 29, 2025, at 7 p.m. at the Washington Area Performing Arts and Events Center in Washington High School.
The musical group founded in 2004 is a favorite on the Iowa City scene, having performed with a variety of famous artists such as Aretha Franklin, Prince, and Rihanna, and is known for its “high-energy, family-friendly acoustic Americana music, featuring exquisite instrumental solos and thrilling vocal harmonies,” according to Iowa Public Radio’s Ben Kieffer.
Now in their 20th year of performance, BSBB continues to feature the best of the eastern Iowa bluegrass scene. The current lineup includes local greats Joe Peterson (mandolin), Mark Wilson (guitar), Paul Roberts (banjo), Marc Janssen (fiddle), and Brandi Janssen (bass). The group performs an mix of traditional bluegrass, country, original music, and fiddle tunes, bringing nearly two hundred years of collective experience to the stage.
