Burlington woman arrested for possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia

A Burlington woman was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia after she was stopped by a Henry County deputy for speeding near the intersection of Highway 34 and Marsh Avenue.
Tamika Nicole Hawkins, 30, of Burlington was stopped on Tuesday, April 9, at approximately 2:57 a.m. by the Henry County Sheriff's Office for traveling 79 miles per hour in a 65 miles per hour zone. Hawkins was driving a red 2019 Jeep Cherokee.
After an investigation, it was found that Hawkins was in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Hawkins was arrested and transported to the Henry County Jail.
Hawkins was charged with Possession of Marijuana First Offense, a Serious Misdemeanor, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a Simple Misdemeanor. She was also given a citation for speeding.
A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
