Hawthorne offers funding toward FHS Future Business Leaders of America
Hawthorne recently offered funding to help defray travel costs of the Fairfield High School Future Business Leaders of America, helping the 25 qualifying students going onto The Future Business Leaders of America National Leadership Conference that was held in San Antonio, Texas, June 29-July 2.
Those 25 students from Fairfield High School joined more than 10,000 students from the United States and abroad.
Deborah Matthews, the FHS business instructor and FBLA adviser, offered her thanks for Hawthorne's continued support.
The Hawthorne Community Causes Committee is part of Hawthorne's larger Corporate Social Responsibility program which makes monthly contributions to the Fairfield community as one of its initiatives. The committee was inspired by founder Tim Hawthorne's dedication to the local community over the past few decades and made possible by the continued generosity of Jessica Hawthorne-Castro. The HCCC is responsible for the usage of the agency's monthly allocated community charitable contributions and selections. Those interested in having their community related needs considered for contributions may email Hawthorne at hollie.stoker@hawthornedirect.com.

Teacher Appreciation event planned in Fairfield
The teachers in Fairfield and the surrounding communities are often not given the appreciation they deserve. To show our support of educators, The Fairfield Area Chamber of Commerce announces its inaugural Teacher Appreciation event.
The event will be held 4:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25 at the Fairfield Arts & Convention Center and will include teachers from Fairfield Community School District, Maharishi School, Pekin Community School District and Cardinal Community School District.
The event is aimed at helping all prekindergarten through 12th-grade teachers stock their classrooms with the supplies that they need for the year ahead. Most, if not all of these teachers spend their own hard earned money on classroom supplies throughout the year. The Teacher Appreciation event is an opportunity to come together and help eliminate the need for them to do so.
For a fee, a participant can sign up to host a booth and offer supplies and various other items to the teachers. The chamber would like to see connections and relationships being made between the teachers and businesses within the community. The teachers are also interested in learning how a business or organization can help throughout the year in their classrooms. Is there someone who would make a great guest speaker on a specific topic? Share that information with the teachers. They are always open to gaining new resources. Does an organization have any events that would spark a teacher's interest? Share that information as well.
Connect with the Fairfield Area Chamber of Commerce for more information and to address questions or concerns at Events@FairfieldIowa.com or 641-472-2111. Register register by 5 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18.
