Business on South Main Street creates eyesore
To the editor:
Has anyone driven south of town on Highway 1 and had the opportunity to see our newest business the Trading Post, if not you must. I go by there every day and I say to myself, how did this happen. I am not against private enterprise, everyone has the right to make a living. My question, however, is do they have the right to do so at the expense of the citizens of Fairfield. Have they no obligation to consider the effect on the environment, the neighbors etc. Are there no rules or regulations by which business must abide? Can anyone just hang up a sign and open a business without any consideration of others?
I often wonder as I drive by what people just driving through town for the first time must think when they come upon this unsightly blight on Fairfield. I am very sad and embarrassed not only personally, but for our town in general. Do we want this to happen to our town, have we no pride in Fairfield, apparently not.
