The Cambridge Investment Research Inc.-sponsored event, Neon Splash, raised $1,800 for the community outdoor pool and recreation center project.
The 5k event, held Oct. 5 at Chautaugua Park, had more than 80 participants in attendance. All proceeds fund the Fairfield Park and Recreation Department?s pool project initiative.
As part of Cambridge?s commitment to health and wellness, the Cambridge Wellness Committee helped facilitate the event, its first within the community, in conjunction with Fairfield park and rec staff.
?On behalf of the pool committee, and the Fairfield Park and Recreation Department, the level of commitment that Cambridge has shown to the betterment of wellness projects for Fairfield has been outstanding,? said Derik Wulfekuhle, Fairfield parks and rec director.
The Cambridge Wellness Committee, in its third year of service, also leads a variety of home office activities. In addition to sponsoring community events, the Wellness Committee facilitates numerous offerings and programs to associates, as part of Cambridge?s commitment to promoting a wellness culture. Free yoga, golf tournaments and discounted passes at local fitness facilities, are a few of the many offerings.
?Our Wellness Committee works hard to ensure that our associates not only work in a healthy culture, they?re also well educated,? said Carol Fischer, Cambridge?s first vice president of branch support and supervision and executive sponsor of the Wellness Committee.
The Wellness Committee is instrumental in the planning and deployment of associate programs that promote health and education. Lunch and Learn, a program offered throughout the year, offers associates the opportunity to team up during their lunch hour and learn throughout a range of health related discussions. Blood pressure awareness, A Healthier You and Lose Weight Permanently, to name a few, offer associates the opportunity to become educated on common health related issues.
By offering employees a wide range of physical activity support and healthy eating options, as part of promoting a wellness culture, the Wellness Committee has helped Cambridge achieve Gold Status, awarded by the American Heart Association.
