The Jefferson County Board of Supervisors appointed a representative to the committee that will oversee the public hearing on Cypress Villages? petition for incorporation and awarded a contract for the courtroom renovation project during Monday?s meeting.
The board appointed Nicholas Campney to serve as the local representative who will vote with the City Development Board on Cypress Villages? petition. The supervisors met last week with Campney and two other eligible candidates, all of whom supervisor Dick Reed said would make adequate representatives.
Assistant county attorney Pat McAvan will notify the City Development Board of the appointment.
The supervisors awarded a roughly $431,000 contract to Schaus Vorhies Contracting for the courtroom. Schaus Vorhies was the lowest of eight bids, all of which came in a little more than the engineer?s estimate.
