Candidates to speak in Fairfield, Mt. Pleasant

FAIRFIELD - A pair of presidential candidates will speak in southeast Iowa this week.
Democratic presidential candidate John Delaney will speak from 12-1:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 14, at Revelations Cafe in Fairfield. He will speak later that afternoon from 2-3:30 p.m. at Central Park Coffee Company in Mt. Pleasant.
Democratic presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg is planning a campaign stop Thursday, Aug. 15, in Fairfield. Buttigieg will speak at a town hall-style event at noon that day. The event is free and open to the public.
Delaney was most recently a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from the state of Maryland, a position he held from 2013-2019. He graduated from Columbia University and obtained a juris doctorate from Georgetown University Law Center.
Buttigieg is the mayor of South Bend, Indiana, in his eighth and final year. He has served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy Reserve. He was a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford and a graduate of Harvard University.
