Candidates vie for local council seats
The nominations for those running for city council in area towns are in; and Libertyville, which has an opening for a town mayor and three at-large councilmember seats, currently has zero hopefuls.
?Nobody turned in papers in Libertyville, and the mayor?s seat is open and three council seats,? said city clerk Karen Blakley. ?I don?t have any idea why nobody turned in papers. There will just be write-in votes.?

The nominations for those running for city council in area towns are in; and Libertyville, which has an opening for a town mayor and three at-large councilmember seats, currently has zero hopefuls.
?Nobody turned in papers in Libertyville, and the mayor?s seat is open and three council seats,? said city clerk Karen Blakley. ?I don?t have any idea why nobody turned in papers. There will just be write-in votes.?
Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Nov. 3.
Jefferson County
Batavia ? The mayor?s seat and three at-large councilmember seats are open for takers. Batavia?s current mayor, Sean Coulter, is not seeking re-election, and Tom Drish is running for the seat uncontested. Jane Brewer and Larry Doud, both incumbents, are running again along with newcomer Matthew Eakins.
Lockridge ? The mayor?s seat and two at-large incumbent seats are available. Paul Corbin is running uncontested for mayor. Judy Hoover Warning and Connie Richardson are both incumbents, running against them are James Gross and Suzie Smithburg.
Maharishi Vedic City ? There are five open council member at-large seats. Although the mayor?s seat is open, incumbent Robert G Wynne is running uncontested. Newcomers Steven Boss and Michael Tinker are in the race alongside incumbents Rogers Badgett, Tim Fitz-Randolph, William Goldstein, Robert Chris Johnson and Maureen M. Wynne for five at-large council seats.
Packwood ? Mayor Dave Dickey is running uncontested, and there are three open at-large city council seats. Rita Eastman, Mathew B. Guise and Larry Johnson, all incumbent are running again.
Pleasant Plain ? The mayor?s seat is open as well as five at-large councilmember seats. Incumbent Richard Pohren is running for mayor uncontested. Council at-large incumbents Carl K. Chandler, Donald Pohren and Kay Pohren are vying to keep their seats. Newcomer Gina Hanshaw is also in the running for one of the available seats.

Van Buren County
Keosauqua ?There are three at-large council seats are up for grabs. Incumbents David Atwood and Mary Twyla Peacock are running again, along with newcomer Charles Lazenby.
Birmingham ? Incumbent mayor Willis Bruegge is running uncontested for a two-year term. City council has three open at-large seats. Incumbent councilmember Jim Meixner is in the running again, alongside newcomers James Hewitt, Debbi Dorothy and Tiffany Warner.
Bonaparte ? Incumbent mayor Dana Mabe is running uncontested for a two-year term. Bonaparte City Council has two open at-large council seats. Incumbent councilmember Caleb Huddleston is running uncontested.
Farmington ? Incumbent mayor Janet Browning is running uncontested for a four-year term. John Torrance, incumbent councilmember is running uncontested. There are two open at-large seats available.
Cantril ?mayor incumbent Randy J. Wiley is running uncontested for a two-year-term. Cantril has two open at-large councilmember seats. Council incumbents Joshua D. Miller and Wayne Tedrow are currently in the running.
Milton ? Delores Cole and Michael Fields are both running to fill the mayor?s seat for a two-year term. There are three open at-large council seats to be filled in Milton. Newcomers Lester Findley and Shannon Sample are in the running alongside incumbent Kelly Gordy.
Stockport ? The mayor?s seat, as well as two at-large councilmember seats are open. Jerry Leathers is running uncontested for mayor, and council incumbents Annie Buzzard and Aaron Sheetz are running alongside newcomer Teresa Canaday.

Wapello County
Eldon ? Mayor Sean Coulter (incumbent) is not seeking re-election. Former councilmember Jerry Lee Potts is in the running to fill the mayor?s spot. Eldon City Council has five vacant at-large seats to be filled. Incumbent Craig Brown is running again, alongside newcomers David Bowen, Patti Durflinger, Roger Gosnell, Michael R. Harville, Michael McClure and Shirley Ann Stacey. Stacey has previously served as Eldon?s mayor.
