In addition to all living creatures, other things are suffering, too, from the oppressive heat and humidity. This section of pavement on Cherry Street between East Cedar Lane and Mapleleaf Drive buckled Sunday due to the heat. Cherry will be closed from East Cedar to Mapleleaf until July 22. West Webster Street from South Jackson to South White also will be closed until July 22 due to a construction project.
