Car accident sends one to hospital

HENRY COUNTY - A Winfield man was taken to the hospital after suffering injuries in a car accident on Sunday, Sept. 8.

At approximately 8:49 a.m. that day, the Henry County Sheriff's office received a report of a single vehicle accident in the 1900 grid of Highway 78 involving minor injuries. An investigation conducted into the accident, revealed that Eric Eye, of Winfield, was operating a 2004 Chevrolet Impala westbound on Highway 78 when he experienced some mechanical issues with his vehicle.

According to Eye, he lost control of his vehicle after having some issues with the rear tire/axle causing the back end of the vehicle to sway back and forth. He crossed the centerline, entered the south ditch of Highway 78 and impacted a mailbox before coming to a rest in the westbound lanes of Highway 78.

Eye was transported to Henry County Health Center by ambulance.
