Car crashes into Fairfield storefront
FAIRFIELD - No one was injured when a motorist accidentally drove into a downtown Fairfield storefront last Thursday.
The business affected was Jefferson County Realty, which had just recently moved to the west side of the square. According to owner Doug Alexander, who was in the building at the time of the incident, a motorist drove their SUV into the store, breaking the plate glass in the main window and putting a 'few dents” in the store's facade.
Alexander said he's sure the event was an accident because he watched the whole thing transpire. He said it appeared the motorist may have pressed on the accelerator when they meant to press the brake, and crashed into the storefront. Then, while attempting to switch the vehicle into reverse, the motorist got confused and ran into the building again Alexander said.
'I wish I had video of it,” Alexander said. 'I could win one of those video contests.”
Alexander said the broken window was boarded up, and the facade of the building will have to be repaired.
