WASHINGTON — A car collided with the side of a home in Washington Wednesday, Jan. 29.
The crash happened around 11 a.m., according to a county Call For Service log, and hospitalized one person who was driven to the University of Iowa Hospital in an ambulance. It wasn’t clear in county records who was injured, but the CFS log said a caller reported the driver was bleeding in the car’s front seat after the collision, with the air bag deployed.
Photos of the accident taken by the local radio station appeared to show the car on the house’s front lawn — not its driveway — at 939 South Third Avenue, and the vehicle had visible damage to its hood.
The Southeast Iowa Union was unable to locate any court records related to the crash using the driver’s name. The county’s CFS log said a state accident report would be filed by the Washington Police Department, but that document was not immediately available at press time.
Editor’s note: an earlier version of this article erroneously reported the Iowa State Patrol planned to file a crash report about the incident, which was in fact handled by the Washington Police Department. It has since been corrected.
