Cardinal gets the better of Van Buren
ELDON ? Patrick Lind edged Van Buren?s Jordan Staton 11-9 in the first match of the night, and Cardinal built a lead from there to dispose of the Warriors 45-30 Thursday night.
Originally scheduled as a triangular including Louisa-Muscatine, Thursday night turned into a dual when the Falcons decided not to make the trip.

Justin Peters (140), Joe Olson (145), Josh Fuhs (160) and Andrew Hemm (171) picked up four consecutive wins by fall for the Comets in the middle of the lineup that propelled Cardinal to the victory. Chris Casey (112), Brendan Schinstock-Moffatt (152) and Randy Dodds (285) all received forfeit wins.
Van Buren was led by AJ Penn with a 4:36 pin at 125 pounds and Dylan Coffman with a win by fall in 1:12 at 135. Justin Carr (189, 1:16) and Zach Corman (215, 3:00) also picked up pins for the Warriors while Brad Goehring (130) won by forfeit.
Next up for both teams will be a trip to the I-35 tournament Saturday in Truro.
