Cellphone conversation leads to rollover mishap

A single car rollover accident Nov. 24 near the intersection of Clayton Avenue and Agency Road, west of Salem, led to two citations being written against the driver.

Nicholas James Dittrich, of Washington, was cited for failure to maintain control and failure to provide poof of financial liability in an accident.

According to the Henry County Sheriff?s Office, Dittrich was eastbound on Agency Road when he lost control. Dittrich admitted to being distracted while driving due to having a conversation with someone on his cellular telephone.

Dittrich?s vehicle left the roadway, crashing into the north ditch before coming to rest on its top.

The sheriff?s office was assisted at the scene by the Iowa State Patrol, Salem First Responders and Henry County Health Center paramedics.
