WASHINGTON — On Monday, April 18 the Community Foundation of Washington County (CFWC) distributed over $35,000 to 21 Washington County nonprofits at a reception held at the Washington Public Library.
These organizations currently have endowment funds invested with the CFWC and their lead organization, the Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation. Since its beginning in 2006, the Community Foundation of Washington County has distributed over $400,000 to nonprofit causes here in Washington County.
The CFWC was formed in 2006 and seeks to strengthen the communities of Washington County by promoting philanthropy, supporting nonprofits and helping donors fulfill their charitable goals. The foundation is overseen by a volunteer board of local citizens and permanently endows most of its assets, ensuring that gifts given will last forever.
