WASHINGTON — Organizers from the Washington Chamber of Commerce said a school supply drive and soup contest Wednesday, Jan. 18 at KC Hall was well-received.
Sponsors brought pots full of soup and free supplies for educators in the area, including those working at Washington schools, the Kirkwood Regional Center and St. James. Chamber Executive Director Michelle Redlinger said she was pleased with the turnout.
“It was incredible to see the community pull together for this inaugural event,” she said. “Between pulling in businesses for needed supplies and getting super submissions for the contests, we were able to create a strong community, showing our support of the local educators.”
Judges named the top three soups at the end of the evening.
- 1st Place: Pam Green - chicken wild rice soup
- 2nd Place: Ed Hotek - seafood chowder
- 3rd Place: Melissa Myers - ham, cheese, potato, noodle soup
