Gerald Ettinger, 42, of New London, was charged with operating while intoxicated, first offense, a simple misdemeanor, following an accident at the intersection of New London Road and 305th Street.
According to the report from the Henry County Sheriff?s Office, a report was received of a vehicle in the ditch at the intersection of New London Road and 305th Street.
After arriving at the scene, deputies located the truck, a 1994 GMC pickup. Ettinger was discovered sleeping in the driver?s seat. Deputies woke Ettinger, who attempted to drive away but was unable to due to weather conditions.
Also on Feb. 14, the sheriff?s office received a report of a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Highway 34 and Nebraska Avenue.
An investigation revealed that Alicia Zachmeyer, of Mt. Pleasant, was traveling west in a 1990 Oldsmobile Cutlass on Highway 34 when a semi-truck pulled out from Nebraska Ave. in front of her.
Zachmeyer lost control of her car on the slick road surface and slid into the rear of the semi. The semi continued driving and was not identified. There were no injuries reported, and damage to Zachmeyer?s vehicle was estimated at $1,500.
