Charles ?Chuck? Messer, 58, of Winfield, died on Monday, May 1, 2017, at the University of Iowa Hospital, in Iowa City.
Cremation has been accorded and a family gathering will be held at a later date.
A general memorial has been established in his name. Honts Funeral Home, in Winfield, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Charles ?Chuck? Messer, 58, of Winfield, died on Monday, May 1, 2017, at the University of Iowa Hospital, in Iowa City.

Messer was born on Feb. 2, 1959, in Mt. Pleasant, the son of Charles and Delores (Spangler) Messer. He was a graduate of the WACO High School and attended Kirkwood Community College. On April 13, 1991, he married Sue Olden, in Salem.
He was a farmer.
He enjoyed hunting and the outdoors.
Messer is survived by his wife, Sue, of Winfield; one son, Chas Messer, of Cedar Rapids; his mother, Delores Messer, of Winfield; one brother, Steve Messer, of Winfield; and one sister, Deanne Edgar, of Crawfordsville.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents and father.
