Check of vehicle leads to drug arrest

OLDS — Wednesday just before 6 p.m., the Henry County Sheriff’s Office was asked to check of a vehicle in the roadway near the intersection of Second Avenue and Main Street in Olds.

The driver of the vehicle was identified as Mathew Volner, 36, of New London.

The Henry County Sheriff’s Office K-9 checked the vehicle and indicated possible drugs inside. Upon a subsequent search of the vehicle, narcotics and indications of narcotic trafficking were found.

A subsequent narcotics search warrant was obtained and executed in New London.

Upon investigation, Volner was arrested and charged with operating while intoxicated, first offense; possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, a felony; conspiracy to deliver methamphetamine, a felony; and failure to affix drug tax stamp.

The Henry County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the New London Police Department.
