Chocolate, wine walk highlight ‘Girls Night Out’

MT. PLEASANT - Mt. Pleasant Main Street is debuting a new holiday event this Thursday: Girls Night Out.
The evening will kick off with a chocolate and wine walk from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Immediately following, several local businesses will be hosting DIY classes from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. The Mt. Pleasant Area Chamber will be distributing swag bags and giveaways every hour during the event.
Lisa Oetken, director of Main Street, said local businesses will be trying out a new holiday shopping idea and encouraging local residents to register wish lists with businesses. Once a wishlist is on file, family members and friends will be able to ask businesses about what items are on a person's wishlist to get the perfect gift.

Oetken said several businesses will be hosting small DIY classes in areas where people will be able to spread out. For those unable to make it to the class, take-home kits may also be available for specific crafts. The Main Street director said businesses hosting classes including Your Dream Home Furniture and Floors, which will be leading a crafting session on two different holiday wreaths, and Quilters Paradise, which will be teaching locals how to make flannel double-sided throws.
'We wanted to do something new and fresh, and the DIY classes are kind of trending, especially during COVID,” Oetken said.
'We want people to continue to shop and explore downtown,” she added.
