City of Fairfield announces sudden death of Police Chief David Thomas

The City of Fairfield shared in a news release Tuesday morning that Police Chief David Thomas has passed away.
The City of Fairfield regretfully announces the unexpected passing of Fairfield Police Chief David Thomas. The City is working with State and local partners to ensure the transition of leadership and public safety service,“ read the announcement.
The city stated that no further information would be released at this time.
“We ask for respect and privacy as the City navigates the loss of a colleague and friend,” it read.
Thomas joined the Fairfield Police Department in 1999, and was promoted to Chief in 2014.
