Clarence Robertson, 91, of Mt. Pleasant, died Saturday, May 2, 2015, at Arbor Court.
Visitation will be held from noon to 7 p.m., on Friday, May 8, 2015, at Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel, where the family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. that evening. Clarence Robertson, 91, of Mt. Pleasant, died Saturday, May 2, 2015, at Arbor Court.
Visitation will be held from noon to 7 p.m., on Friday, May 8, 2015, at Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel, where the family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. that evening. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2015, at 1 p.m., at the Memorial Chapel, with John Robertson and Dan Spray officiating. Inurnment will follow in Forest Home Cemetery, with military rites provided by the Henry County Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to HCI Care Services (Hospice of Central Iowa Care Services) in his memory. Online condolences may be directed to www.olsonpowell.com.
Robertson was born Nov. 26, 1923, near Farmington, the son of Mac and Catharine (Groene) Robertson. He graduated from Hillsboro High School and attended Parsons College for two years. On July 11, 1945, he married Evalyn Meinhardt in Purcell, Okla.
Robertson served in the U.S. Navy Corps as an instructor in Gunnery School during World War II. After his military service, he farmed for nearly 40 years in the Sharon community, of rural Farmington. He was a member of the Sharon Presbyterian Church. After moving to Mt. Pleasant, he joined Calvary Baptist Church.
Robertson enjoyed woodworking, riding his motorcycle, farming and spending time with his family.
Robertson is survived by his wife, Evalyn; one son, John (Theresa) Rovertson, of Farmington; one daughter, Kay (Rick) Defenbaugh, of Weaverville, N.C.; eight grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by a daughter, Ann Ekle.
