Mar. 27, 2019 12:50 pm
The clerk of court's office in the Jefferson County Courthouse is moving to the former Lincoln Elementary School today.
The former school, also known as the Lincoln Learning Center, is hosting not just the clerk of court but also the Jefferson County Assessor's office until the elevator at the courthouse is fixed, expected to be in July. The assessor's office moved to the Lincoln Learning Center last week.
The clerk of court's office will be closed while the staff moves their belongings to the former school. The clerk's office will reopen at its new location Thursday with normal hours of 8 a.m. to noon, 1-4:30 p.m. The office will be just inside the front door on the south side.
Clerk of Court Jennifer Nelson said the south door is the only door that's open to the public. She said the clerk's office will continue using the same phone number, 472-3454, and those with bills to pay can continue sending them to the courthouse address: Clerk of District Court, 51 W. Briggs Ave., Suite 5, Fairfield, IA 52556.
