WINFIELD — Time keeps marching on at the Winfield Museum and new things are happening! The Winfield Historical Society and Museum will present a program, “Clocks-Stories of the Past” on Saturday, Nov. 16 at 10:30 a.m. at the VFW Building.
Clock expert, retired pastor Michael Lynch, will share his extensive knowledge about antique clocks. Lynch has repaired clocks for 45 years and has a shop in Kalona. He is an avid antique clock collector and is passionate about his hobby. He has many stories to share about the clocks he has repaired. He would also like people to bring in their own antique clocks to share.
After the program, the historical society board will serve a chili luncheon. Free will donations for the program and meal will be accepted for the operation of the current museum and for renovations of the new location that will house the Winfield Museum in the future.
In other museum news, progress on the new museum building is moving ahead. The front windows were replaced, and work was completed to renovate the front exterior. The board hopes to finish the exterior painting soon.
A special thank you to the Enhance Henry County Foundation and to all who have donated time and materials to make this project happen. We are now ready to focus on renovating the inside starting with the front half of the building. Without grants and donations this would not be possible. No donation is too small or too large! We appreciate all your interest and support.
Please stop in on Monday mornings from 10 a.m.-noon to see our carpenter tools display and our new pocket watch display. Don’t forget to mark Saturday, Nov. 16 at 10:30 a.m. at the VFW Building on your calendars for our clock presentation and chili luncheon because time waits for no one!
