The Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded to a two-vehicle accident Sunday afternoon in which one person was transported to the emergency room.
The incident occurred at about 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 24 at the intersection of Highways 1 and 92 (north junction), north of the city of Washington. Gary Fox of Brighton was transported by private vehicle to the Washington County Hospital and Clinics’ emergency room due to injuries suffered in a collision with another vehicle.
Upon arrival, deputies interviewed Fox, who told them that he was traveling south on Highway 1 when another vehicle, driven by a juvenile operator, with his mother in the front passenger seat, was traveling east on Highway 92, stopped at the stop sign. The juvenile entered the intersection, striking Fox’s vehicle. The juvenile reported that he believed the intersection was a four-way stop, which it is not. Deputies noted that it was raining at the time of the collision.
Bulltown Towing did obtain and tow both vehicles from the incident location. A citation for failure to yield upon entering a through highway is pending against the juvenile.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Washington Police Department, Washington QRS, Washington Fire Department, Washington County Rescue, Washington County Ambulance and Bulltown Towing.
