RICHLAND — A car crash in Keokuk County over the weekend injured two Washington County residents and killed a third, according to an Iowa State Patrol report.
Frank Patterson, 82, of West Chester, was a passenger traveling southbound on 323rd Avenue around 12:30 p.m. on Nov. 25, when a northbound car, driven by Kathy Wagamon of Brighton, “crossed the center line and struck (Patterson’s vehicle) head on,” according to a minimal crash report from the Iowa State Patrol.
The collision killed Patterson, who was not wearing a seat belt, and injured Marsha Patterson, also of West Chester, who was driving the Patterson vehicle.
Marsha Patterson was transported from the scene by AirCare to Iowa City, after the helicopter landed on a nearby hill at around 1:20 p.m., according to a detailed Keokuk County Call for Service Report. Wagamon was transported to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics as well, but in a Keokuk County Ambulance, according to the state’s report.
The Iowa State Patrol was assisted by the Keokuk County Sheriff’s Office, Washington and Keokuk County Ambulance services, and the Richland Fire Department, according to the State Patrol report.
