No injuries were reported from a two-vehicle accident Wednesday at the 235 mile marker of U.S. Highway 34. No injuries were reported from a two-vehicle accident Wednesday at the 235 mile marker of U.S. Highway 34. According to the Iowa State Patrol, the collision involved a semi tractor and trailer driven by Michael Wheeler, 25, of Marion, and an SUV, driven by Carlos Fernandez, 27, of Des Moines. The truck was in the right lane and the SUV in the left lane of the ramp to U.S. Highway 218. At the point where the two lanes of the ramp merge into one lane, the vehicles sideswiped each other. Damage was estimated at $10,000 to the SUV and $2,000 to the semi trailer. The impact sent the SUV into the median. The accident remains under investigation.
