WASHINGTON - Washington County Hospital and Clinics will assume operations of the Columbus Junction Clinic effective today.
This opportunity arose when Mercy Services announced late in January plans to close the clinic located in Columbus Junction on Feb. 28.
As WCHC strives to deliver on the promise to provide quality health care that puts people first, it continues to develop new programs and expand its reach to be the central resource for improving health and promoting wellness in and around Washington County.
'Columbus Junction has been a strategic area that WCHC has been evaluating for some time,” according to a news release. 'The clinic is an important service to the residents of Columbus Junction as well as a referral point for the hospital.”
Transitioning the clinic under the Washington County Hospital and Clinics umbrella will ensure the patients continue to have local access to health care, said hospital CEO Todd Patterson.
'The primary care services provided at the Columbus Junction Clinic complement our existing services and will strengthen our relationship with providers currently referring to our hospital as well as with the patients coming to WCHC for additional services,” he said.
Patients of the Columbus Junction Clinic will continued to be cared for by Danielle Woepking, an advanced registered nurse practitioner. In addition, WCHC has acquired the assets of the practice, which will remain at 109 Walnut St., in Columbus Junction. The clinic will now be called 'WCHC Columbus Junction Clinic.”
The WCHC Columbus Junction Clinic will be closed this week, as the physical space is prepared and staff is provided training on the organization's electronic medical record. The clinic will reopen to patients on Monday, March 8, with new, expanded operating hours: Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. and Fridays, 8 a.m.-noon. Same day appointments will be available, and new patients will be accepted. To schedule an appointment, patients will call 319-728-2429.
Patients will need to have their personal medical records transferred from Mercy Services to WCHC. Patients can access and print the required request of information authorization at wchc.org/medicalrecords. In regards to transferring medical records, patients can call 319-863-3990 for questions or assistance.
