Community Band to play in Central Park tonight
Mt. Pleasant?s Community Band will offer a benefit concert at 7 p.m. tonight in Central Park.
During the final two concerts (June 30 and July 7), a collection will be taken to support and rebuild the music and band programs in the Joplin, Mo., School District. Mt. Pleasant?s Community Band will offer a benefit concert at 7 p.m. tonight in Central Park.
During the final two concerts (June 30 and July 7), a collection will be taken to support and rebuild the music and band programs in the Joplin, Mo., School District. The band?s hope is to provide some assistance to the students, teachers and community members of Joplin so they can continue to have the opportunity for music and band in their school system.
People who cannot attend the concerts and want to make a donation should contact Adam Creager at creagera@mt-pleasant.k12.ia.us or by phone at 385-3254.
Some of tonight?s selections include a Blues Brothers Revue (?I Can?t Turn You Loose?, ?Soul Man?, ?Soul Finger? and ?Everybody Needs Somebody to Love?); ?United Nations March?; ?Medley from the Phantom of the Opera?; and ?Torch of Liberty March?.
