The Community Foundation of Washington County spends all year giving to other local charities and organizations. On Monday, Nov. 5, they will host a dinner to celebrate their work and raise money to help grow endowment funds within Washington County.
This year the Community Foundation will host their 10th annual dinner on Monday, Nov. 5, at 6 p.m. at the Holy Trinity Parish Life Center in Richmond. Millie Youngquist, executive director, says the goal of the group is to help grow other organizations that are working toward the common theme of improving Washington County.
'We are all about supporting nonprofit groups and helping them establish endowment funds,” she said.
The endowment funds are then used by the local groups to their own discretion. The Community Foundation helps many organizations in Washington County including Crooked Creek Christian Camp, the Washington Public Library and the Highland School District.
The dinner will be prepared by Chef Rosa Altagracia of Tiny Town catering in Riverside. She will prepare locally sourced food and side dishes to complement wine from Wooden Wheel Winery in Keota, who also will be in attendance.
The featured speaker for the evening will be representatives from the Friends of Lake Darling group, another organization the Community Foundation supports.
Youngquist says these organizations are the backbone of Washington County and supporting them is what keeps the community strong. 'They connect everything together to make a strong foundation for life here in Washington County,” she said. 'It makes our community strong and supports causes and makes it a good place to live.”
Tickets for the dinner can be purchased from any Community Foundation Board member or by calling Millie Youngquist at 319-653-4673. Tickets must be purchased by Tuesday, Oct. 30.
