Community seeks donations for family displaced by explosion

WASHINGTON - Community members and organizations are stepping up to help a family involved in the home explosion on Monday.
Residents Kelly Thomas and Renee Guy are taking donations for the young boy and his uncle. The Washington YMCA has joined the effort.
An account has been set up at Hills bank under Kelly and Guy's names. Money can also be donated to Venmo KelleyThomas37.
'All proceeds will go toward providing for the family's needs,” according to the YMCA of Washington County Facebook.
The boy is an active participant in many of the Y's programs, according to the YMCA.
The YMCA is collecting various items for the boy.
'Suggested items would be shoes boys size 6/7, athletic shorts boys size 16/18 husky, pants size 18/20 husky, gift cards for stores such as Target, Scheels, Fareway or Hy-Vee, Xbox gift cards, and he is in need of a dresser.,” according to the YMCA.
A collection box is located at the Washington Community Y, 520 W Fifth St. Washington, IA - in the front vestibule for any items.
'We are extremely appreciative of any items donated and would like to ask you for your continued support and prayers for this family,” according to the YMCA.
