The production will be Thursday, Friday and Saturday (March 5-7) at 7 p.m. at the Heatilator Center for the Arts in Mt. Pleasant.
1st Lt. Smith, serving with the 301 Signal Corps Battalion of Patton?s 3rd Army came ashore July 6, 1944, at Utah beach on the coast of Normandy ? 30 days after D-Day.
His letters home to his sweetheart, Alma, form the basis for the play, ?My Father?s War.? Compiled by his daughter, the letters home show life in the Army as it fought its way across France and into Germany.
The letters present the life of a soldier as he performs his military duties and his daily routines. The letters also display his great appreciation for his country and his great love for Alma. The two-man cast uses multi-media and historical narrative to enhance the presentation of Smith?s letters to his girlfriend.
Tickets may be purchased at Brown?s Shoe Fit or at the door.
