LIBERTYVILLE ? Community volunteers opened a new ballpark concession stand three weeks ago and discovered an attempted break-in and vandalism occurred sometime between 9 p.m. April 18 and 4 p.m. Thursday.
?The concession stand represents a lot of volunteer hours,? said Bev Nelson, secretary/treasurer of Little League Baseball in Libertyville.
?It?s very sad. No money is kept overnight inside the building. And there?s an overhead door light that stays lit through the night.
?The padlock was damaged, and we?ve of course already replaced that. There was damage around the windows, too,? she said.
Nelson said the Little League will review its funds and is thinking to install a security system at the concession stand.
